  15. This document specifies a method for the transmission of IP multicast
  16. datagrams over Token-Ring Local Area Networks.  Although an interim
  17. solution has emerged and is currently being used, it is the intention
  18. of this document to specify a more efficient means of transmission
  19. using an assigned Token-Ring functional address.
  20.  
  21. This is now a Proposed Standard Protocol.
  22.  
  23. This RFC specifies an IAB standards track protocol for the Internet
  24. community, and requests discussion and suggestions for improvements.
  25. Please refer to the current edition of the "IAB Official Protocol
  26. Standards" for the standardization state and status of this protocol.
  27. Distribution of this memo is unlimited.

  29. This announcement is sent to the IETF list and the RFC-DIST list.
